IT. WAS. AWESOME.
It was funny, it was great, it was really entertaining and Al really is a TRUE showman. God. Just... really, I loved it. it was my first concert gahahahaha and I'm happy I made the choice to go! I wore my Rawkin' Weird Al shirt.
I was holding the artbook when we were waiting for the show to start, and I was flipping through the stuff, sort of just looking over my artwork, and apparently the couple in front of me was looking. I was totally surprised when the girl suddenly said "WHOA, THAT IS SO COOL. WHERE DID YOU GET THAT?!"
When I explained that I had made it myself, the boyfriend pointed out my shirt and asked if I'd made it too. I told them yes, and then I was asked if I sold any of my stuff, and I had to tell them "no" because I don't wanna get sued. It was pretty awesome.
AFTER THE SHOW... Me and my sister waited outside for an HOUR waiting for Weird Al to get out of the theatre. And then my mom popped up ready to pick us up; she called me on my cell from the car across the street, and I told her we were waiting, he wasn't out yet. And she said "Um... yes he is, he's right there" and I turned to look at the theatre, and there he was, and my brain totally flipped. gahahaha
We got in line in front of the tour bus to get our autographs, but the bodyguards or whatever were telling us "YOU WILL ONLY GET ONE THING AUTOGRAPHED. YOU WILL ONLY TAKE ONE PICTURE, AND MAKE SURE THAT THE CAMERA IS READY WHEN YOU GET UP THERE." Apparently, they were in a hurry or sommat (it was getting late anyhow). So, most people just sort of shook hands with him, got an autograph, friendly banter, one photo, and left.
I was freaked when it came to my turn, because I SERIOUSLY didn't know what I was going to say. When I got there, I wouldn't even look at his face, and I just said "...hello." He said hi, and I shook his hand, and just went "...yourmyheropleasesignthis" and I thrust out my Running with Scissors CD. It took me a moment to realize that I was holding the artbook still gahahahaha
So, right in the middle of his signature, I said "I have a totally dorky present for you."
He looked up from writing the Y in his last name, going "huh?"
And I FINALLY handed off the artbook.
He puts the CD down with the unfinished autograph and takes the book, looking at it going "Whoa... what's this?!"
I start explaining that I drew it when my computer broke and how it had 27 pieces of fan art in it while he flipped through a few pages; my heart was totally doing flips in my chest. Then he looks up and says:
"This is-- I just -- I gotta give you a hug for this!"
WEIRD AL STOOD UP AND GAVE ME A HUG. He's such a sweetheart! he finished off his signature and just thanked me a few more times, before I finally walked off and skipped down to the car.
I'm still really giddy.
AND I HOPE he actually liked the book and wasn't just being polite... and that he'll actually look through it now that he has it. ...andthathe'llnoticetheemailaddressicrammedintothecrack
*coughs* Gahahha I'm a dork.
ANYHOW, AS YOU CAN SEE, I'M STILL REALLY EXCITED.
I NEED TO GO PEE.
And go to sleep too.
